Kodak M863

If you're in the market for a new digital camera, I recommend the Kodak M863. It's small, inexpensive, and comes in a variety of colors ( silver, blue, red and I think black). It has several scene settings ( I have thoroughly enjoyed and have identified several favorites). One of my favorite features is the choice of picture sizes (from 1.2 mega pixels to 8.1). My first digital camera ( a Concord that served me well for 5 years) only had three sizes (1 to 3); therefore, I was ready for a camera that had more mega pixels. Of course, there are cameras with many more mega pixels, however, 8.2 is enough for me right now. Another favorite feature is the picture colors that range from natural color to the sephia (an antique look). Of course black and white is offered, but I like having choices to my picture colors. I didn't think I would be writing an advertisement on this blog for anything, however I really love my new camera!

Last Weekend

A young deer grazing.
A close up ( blurry, but worth it) picture of a young deer.

We had a conchnologist ( a collector of seashells) in our midst who had put together this display case of shells. See my reflection? :)

Here is another view of the chapel.

This is the chapel (zoomed in as I was photographing from the beach) at the camp if you look closely you may be able to see the cross through the trees. I blew it up so you could see it ( the cross) better. If you look through the trees at the top, you can see the bottom part of it.
YEP, this would be an octopus. I have never seen one, especially washed on the beach. It was rather interesting seeing one. Actually I saw another further up the beach, but something had been eating on it.

There were some sand dollars washed up. This is the time of year when they die out only to begin reproducing.

At the market

The other end of Church St. I had my back to Broad St. See the steeple of St. Phillip's?

Last weekend I went to Camp St. Christopher (a few miles outside of Charleston on Seabrook Island) for a meeting. After the meeting, I took a walk on the beach at the camp, though it was very cold. I then went into Charleston to continue photographing while enjoying a hot cafe mocha courtesy of Starbucks. Since I uploaded so many pictures, most of these are small. Enjoy!

Videos of Savannah Wildlife Refuge

Here are some videos I took while at S.W.R. These along with the pix in the precedding post were taken from my older digital camera.

Savannah Wildlife Refuge

When Paula and Geoff were down, they went to the Savannah Wildlife Refuge. Because they talked it up so much, I decided to go the afternoon of my birthday (Dec 31) being that I was going to Savannah anyway, I figured why not. Didn't see many animals, but then yet it is still winter even though the weather stays rather wild this time of year here in the Low Country as well as in Savannah.

Some cute pictures-Goin' to school

Here are some cute pix of my Kaby. He is a ham not to mention VERY curious!

Some better pix

Haven't had any pix with the instruments since my tenure at Holy Apostles in Barnwell. Since I needed a nice picture for something else thought I'd have a couple made after church tonight.

A good laugh

Something to make you laugh. Continuing to enjoy my new camera and playing/experimenting with the various features. Here I am attempting to take self portraits a couple with Kaby. Madison, my red tabby, wasn't interested in participating in this particular photo session. Like my Fred Flinstone grins? :)

Facebook

I know by now most of us are probably using Facebook. A friend mentioned it to me back in October. I had thought about getting on, but never put aside the time to do it. When Paula, my college roommate, was down in December, she put me on. It's simple ( really, really easy) to use. A very easy way to keep in touch with friends and family. I think it's better than IMing. Also a good way to reconnect with college and/or high school classmates.

Self Portrait

Can you tell I like the Self Portrait feature.

Today's Adventure

Another day of picture taking. My parents gave me a new digital camera for my birthday. It is nice. It's a Kodak M863. I've had fun taking pictures to get used to it and play with the different settings, thoughI'm sure my cats are tired of being my photo subjects. As you can tell, I had fun playing with the different settings as well as experimenting with the distance feature. Overall, I'm quite impressed with this camera. One of my favorite backgrounds is the Black and White. I'm looking forward to using the scene selections more.
